Medical Mission Trip to the Middle East
Monday, June 30, 2008
On July 4th, 2008, Coastal Pediatric Associates physician Dr. Robert Clifford is leading a medical team into Jordan to provide humanitarian aid to Iraqi refugees. Since 2003, as many as 5 million Iraqi civilians have fled into neighboring countries in an effort to escape the increasing sectarian violence. Hundreds of thousands of people now seek refuge in squatter settlements scattered throughout Jordan. These refugees have an increasingly difficult time finding food, clean water or even the most basic medical care as they seek to make a new life away from their homes.
Travelling with the Charleston-based non-profit Remember, Dr. Clifford and local Internist/CPA parent Dr. Chris McLain will be setting up adult and pediatric clinics through local Jordanian churches. Thanks to donations from Coastal Pediatric Associates, Associates in Internal Medicine, St. Francis Hospital, Primary Rx, Weberwear, and Doctor's Care, the Remember team will be equipped with hundreds of pounds of medications and medical supplies.
Robert asks that we keep the team in prayer as they travel and minister to the Iraqi refugees. Please pray for the Lord's wisdom and for the team's hope that they are received both as an extension of God's grace and as a demonstration of the compassionate heart of the American people.
The group hopes to be posting updates on the Remember and Remember Ambassadors websites.
